30 x 30 x 1.5 inches semi abstract landscape painting in summer rainbow colours with a swallow. I painted this on a hot day in September after a walk in the fields near where I live. It felt like end of summer as the next day the weather changed. I used very warm bright colours including bright orange, yellow, pink and green and I made the background blurred and shimmery to give the idea of flowers in the heat. The swallow is a regular in England in summer and I love to watch them scudding over the fields and hills of Sussex. However they will soon be leaving and although it feels a little sad, as heralds the end of summer, it is also optimistic as it looks forward to the beginning of autumn which sees equally beautiful landscapes. The painting style is semi-abstract, expressionist with art nouveau type shapes standing in relief in some parts especially round the bird. It is partly realistic and partly exuberantly decorative. Painted on deep edge canvas - edges white, no frame needed.

Gill Bustamante, a contemporary British painter, is renowned for her distinctive artistry that breathes life into large semi-abstract oils on canvas, drawing inspiration from the wonders of nature. Specializing in creating expansive semi-abstract landscape, seascape, and wildlife paintings, Gill has carved out a unique style that seamlessly blends art-nouveau, impressionist, and semi-abstract techniques with a touch of traditional portraiture. Her artistic vision is deeply rooted in a profound love for nature, animals, birds, and the rich flora and fauna that grace the landscapes surrounding her.

Central to Gill's creative process is a method she terms 'memory impressionism.' This approach involves immersing herself in nature, going for walks to observe and absorb the essence of the landscapes, and then returning to her studio to translate those experiences onto canvas. The result is a collection of artworks that capture the echoes and essences of the places she explores, often including the wildlife encountered during her walks. This distinctive method allows Gill to convey the feelings and impressions she has about these locations, offering viewers a glimpse into the profound connection she shares with the natural world. Gill Bustamante's artistic focus extends to the ancient landscapes of England, and her paintings frequently reflect the spiritual elements inherent in such revered locales.
