Giacomo Bertolino was born in Palermo in 1965. Metal artist and bricoleur sculptor, he creates works of art in iron through assembly, welding and forging of waste materials, scrap metal and disused objects that become the foundations that trigger the creative processes thanks to which his particular sculptures take shape. Self-taught, he likes to define himself as an "inventor" in the Latin sense of the term, that is, "he who finds, recreates, arranges" - specifically waste metal objects and materials - through imagination and analogical thought. In re-adapting disused objects in contexts other than their original ones, he grants them - like a bricoleur of Lévi-Strauss memory - a new life and an unprecedented configuration without distorting their identity and recognisability - thus making them also symbols of a criticality against the exhausting industrial production and the rampant mass consumerism. His continuous artistic research has led him over time to experiment with different materials for his sculptures - wood-cement-copper and techniques - painting with flame on copper plates. He has participated in various collective exhibitions and national events.
