ABOUT GHISLAINE

Ghislaine Sabiti is a Congolese born artist. She grew up in France and spent most of her life in South Paris where she was introduced to art at a very young age. In the early 90's, she studied fine art at Atelier Chantier du Coq in France where she did many group exhibitions and been influence by 19 century artist like Vincent van Gogh, Gustav Klimt. She also graduated with honors in fashion design from Atelier Chardon Savard in Paris. This education was instrumental in giving her direction in formulating her style and technique. Her art is an expression of her life experiences including a focus on the people she met on her multiple trips through Europe, Africa and North America. Her French-Congolese heritage helped to instill in her a knowledge, wealth, and cultural awareness which is reflected in her art and perspective on life. “I always used form and movement in my paintings because of my fashion education and textile background. I am used to working with fabric (due to my fashion education) and it too has influenced my art a lot,” she remarked. She often working from life models, landscape with the assistance of my two favorite tools -- the knife and the brush -- I also use oil and primary colors to create a texture that gives my canvas an impression of abstract movement,” she said.
