Né en 1947 à Paris. Vit et travaille à Paris. Artiste international et voyageur infatigable, Georges Rousse investit des lieux très différents - immeubles en rénovation, espaces industriels ou architectures traditionnelles - par divers moyens : peinture, craie, pages de journaux dont les images sont occultées. Une recherche permanente de la mise en valeur de l'espace par la lumière, la couleur et l'insertion de formes géométriques, plus ou moins complexes, réalisées en anamorphoses. Le point de vue unique de la prise de vue détermine celui du spectateur et la photographie pérennise l'installation, généralement éphémère. Le dessin a toujours fait partie de son processus de création. L'aquarelle lui permet de se projeter dans l'espace proposé, d'imaginer différentes interventions possibles et cela sans contraintes. Formes, couleurs, matériaux envisagés ne sont conditionnés à ce stade que par la recherche de la mise en valeur du lieu et la recherche de la lumière. « Je fais appel à de nombreuses pratiques artistiques : je suis dessinateur du projet, peintre dans le lieu, architecte par mon interprétation de l’espace et la construction que j’y organise, enfin photographe pour rassembler toutes ces actions. » Georges Rousse La galerie Catherine Putman édite régulièrement depuis 2003 des tirages jet d'encre de Georges Rousse, et montre depuis 2006 ses aquarelles, qui font partie du travail préparatoire de ses photographies.
