George Sculpteur: A bold exploration of contemporary art
Born George PELTRE in Toulon (Var, France) in 1966, George Sculpteur has established herself as a key figure in contemporary sculpture. Currently based in Tourrettes-sur-Loup, in the Alpes-Maritimes, she has successfully combined her Mediterranean roots with a prolific artistic career, shaped by a relentless quest for renewal and innovation.
A graduate of the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, with a specialization in communication, George was congratulated by the jury for her creativity and innovative approach. This academic training, completed by artistic stays in Spain (Eibar) and Italy (Pietrasanta & Turin), allowed her to develop a unique artistic language, where bronze and steel become the mediums of choice for her monumental sculptures.
George Sculpteur's works are distinguished by their ability to dialogue with their environment. Whether through the imposing facades of public buildings or in prestigious private spaces, her creations leave no one indifferent. Among her most notable achievements is her artistic intervention at the Natecia Maternity Hospital in Lyon, where she was able to install "words of love" in a place where life begins...
A versatile visual artist, she excels in painting, ceramics, and sculpture, while mastering steel techniques. Her works reflect constant experimentation, a creative laboratory where each new creation is an invitation to discover new horizons. She has also explored new technologies, integrating photo, video, as well as 2D and 3D images into her creative process, which has allowed her to collaborate on avant-garde projects, such as La documenta in Kassel and the world of video games, with a notable contribution to Pokémon Go.
In 2019, George launched “Libre Dérive”, an artistic stroll through an entire department, which embodies her incessant quest for creative freedom. This project symbolizes her approach: a continuous and renewed search for expression, where each work becomes a journey in its own right.
