We started carving in wood about 6 years ago, almost in a kind of doodling way. Haphazardly at first, grabbing a few hours here and there.
That was, until the wood grabbed us.
From craft knives and chisels to power tools and suddenly a new world was open to us. The thrill of allowing the grain of the wood to take us on a journey.
We had both been interested in meditation for some time, and now here was something truly therapeutic, hypnotic and absolute fun.
The sculptures were, of course, only for us and we felt an increasing ‘togetherness’ working in our little ‘studio.’
We have always been careful where we get our wood from. We made some rules: we wouldn’t cut anything down, we would only use recycled material and definitely not anything endangered, or even exotic woods that were apparently plentiful.
The wood taught us a joy and we will be forever grateful to it.
