Ce tableau fait partie d'une série d'une cinquantaine d’œuvres composant l'installation présentée dans la vidéo visible en description. L'installation s'intitule "Éléments de langage", il s'agit d'un puzzle sans solution manipulable par le public.
My work focuses on painting, random combinations and public participation.
My work mainly explores political and social issues in France with a fairly critical approach to recent history and contemporary events. I particularly like to combine abstract and figurative elements and I am not attached to a particular style or movement.
My artistic project does not respect the traditional and implicit rules of the painting exhibition. It is indeed painting but also an interactive installation because the paintings, all square, form a giant puzzle that the public is invited to manipulate to explore the many possible combinations. The paintings are equipped with handles and a hanging system and I want the public to manipulate them, touch them, play with them to explore this world. In this puzzle, there is no good or bad solution, there is no universal combination that would give us a unique explanation. It is a puzzle without a solution. The aim of the project is to create exhibitions that concretely involve spectators in exploring a multitude of combinations by interacting directly with the paintings.
The total number of combinations is calculated with the formula "4n x n!" Where n is the number of panels. Only a tiny fraction of these combinations were consciously created or are deliberately or potentially represented by the public. During the exhibition it is impossible to represent all these combinations. With 9 panels (9 m², 3 meters x 3 meters), the total number of combinations is 49 x 9!, or about 95 billion possible combinations.
I am 47 years old, I am a self-taught artist. I have been painting for many years, freely and independently. I work in the field of knowledge and protection of marine biodiversity. My main professional activity concerns the modeling of interactions between human activities at sea and the marine environment. I am also a volunteer at Radio U, a community radio station in Brest. I prepare and host two radio shows, one dedicated to the environment (Green Washing) and the other dedicated to culture (Magmad). You can listen to the podcasts of these shows on the Radio U website.
