Franz Hümpfner é um fotógrafo conhecido. Ele sempre tenta transmitir a realidade escondida atrás do mundo visível através de suas fotografias. Para ele, a câmera é uma ferramenta para seu trabalho artístico, assim como um pintor usa pincéis e tinta para criar suas obras.
Ele emprega técnicas analógicas e digitais. "Uma fotografia requer a sensação do papel", diz ele, acrescentando que "a representação fugaz na tela não pode transmitir a qualidade sensual de uma fotografia".
