N.B. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE VIDEO OF THE WORK, THIS SCREEN PRINTING IS MADE WITH THE "ALCHEMICAL TEMPERAMENT" TECHNIQUE WHICH ALLOWS, THROUGH A CHEMICAL REACTION OF THE PIGMENTS, TO TRANSFORM THE IMAGE ON CANVAS CYCLICLY IN FRONT OF THE SPECTATOR'S EYES, WITHOUT USE OF DIGITAL MEANS.

Dorian's face, created by fusing the somatic characteristics of Oscar Wilde and his lover, Alfred Douglas, ages on the canvas as in the novel. Observing Dorian's eyes, one also perceives the pictorial reference to Alexandre Cabanel's "Fallen Angel", this Luciferian characteristic recalls in this sense suggestions of Dr. Faust, who inspired Wilde to write his famous novel. Through the corruption of body and soul Dorian saves himself from boredom and the monochromatic monotony of a comfortable life: he chooses the path of the low, equally welcoming pleasure and suffering rather than the flatness of uniform rectilinear motion.

N.B.: DUE TO THE PARTICULAR TECHNICAL NATURE OF THESE SCREEN PRINTS, SHIPPING TIMES MAY TAKE DELIVERY TIMES FROM 14 TO 30 DAYS.

Biography
Francesco Filippelli is a Painter and Chemist born in Naples in 1993, of Calabrian origins. From an early age he demonstrated an expressive preference that converged towards the visual arts, which would find its full outlet when at 14 he studied in the workshop of the painter Francesca Strino. At 18 he realized the illusory evanescence of perceived reality, and driven by the desire to free himself from this nihilistic anguish he undertook studies on the material universe, enrolling in the faculty of Chemistry at the Federico II University of Naples. Since 2010 he has participated in various collective exhibitions throughout Italy. In 2018 he held his first solo exhibition at Palazzo Venezia, in Naples.
In 2020 he exhibited at PAN (Palazzo delle Arti in Naples) with a solo exhibition entitled 'I 7 Mari'. His works appear in various contemporary art magazines and in some art catalogs edited by Prof.V.Sgarbi.
Also in 2020, visiting the Sansevero Chapel, observing the portrait of Prince Raimondo di Sangro, he grasps the alchemical secret for the transformation of the paintings, on which he will work for the following three years in order to perfect the technique of the 'Alchemic Temporama' and create the first six portraits in transformation.
Francesco currently combines the profession of Painter with that of teacher of Mathematics and Science, at the IC Darmon institute in Marano (NA). Beyond his obsession with painting, he is passionate about quantum physics, maritime art and tobacco.
