Jan Fekete is a contemporary painter from Slovakia. The artist grew up in a small village, where he had the opportunity to grow up surrounded by the magical Slovak countryside, which had a profound and long-lasting impression on him. Even today, he can paint a landscape without using a template; it just comes to him. When he was an adult and lived and studied in the major cities of Bratislava, Vienna, and Munich, the urban environment similarly impacted him.
Fekete doesn't want to depict in detail or realistically what we can see with our eyes, but to demand imagination and inner vision from the viewer. In his paintings, everything is open, everything is just interpretation, it is like an introduction to develop the scenery itself and feel it according to one's own. He sees the world without contours, without closed forms and he tries to convey exactly the same to the viewer.
Jan Fekete was born in 1958, in Slovakia. Fekete had 37 individual exhibitions, in Austria, Germany, and Slovakia, and participated in more than 40 collective exhibitions in the USA, Japan, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Poland. His works are in 8 public collections in Austria and Germany.
