This is a personal vision of a maquis hill in Ersa in Corsica.
I am a retired professor of visual arts. I discovered engraving many years ago at the Beaux-Arts in Grenoble, and the scent (!) of ink in the studio where this mysterious practice was hidden attracted me irresistibly. The imposing machines of the intaglio presses and the hushed and concentrated atmosphere of the studio contributed to this attraction.
The diversity of techniques: etching, aquatint, drypoint, mezzotint, and contemporary photopolymer techniques make this practice infinite. The random and experimental side of certain techniques and the surprises that we try to master allow us to vary the results and discoveries.
I run engraving classes in my workshop in Etoile sur Rhône. I like to work on a piece for a long time in a precise and slow way.
Drawing and engraving in black and white are my favorite expressions.
