Born in 1991 in Paris, FAT embarked on his artistic journey by earning a CAP in photography, laying the foundation for his visual language. His educational path continued at Lycée Brassai, a vocational high school specializing in photography and image, where he honed his skills. Early on, FAT immersed himself in workshop and exhibition projects, gaining valuable experience that would shape his artistic trajectory.
Actively involved in painting since the 2000s, FAT initially delved into the world of street art alongside fellow artist Fast. The characters of FAT's childhood, iconic figures from cartoons like Tom & Jerry and Porky Pig, now animate the underground passages of the Parisian railway network. Each station becomes a rendezvous point for beloved animated characters, reflecting the nostalgia of an artist born in the 90s.
Despite primarily practicing his art in the streets and subways, FAT is meticulous in his attention to detail. His compositions feature characters against meticulously crafted backgrounds, blending drips and lettering seamlessly. The vibrant colors elevate the protagonists, divorcing them from their original contexts.
Beyond mere visual representation, FAT adds layers of narrative to his works. Cartoon heroes are scripted into scenes on signboards, stations, or metro maps, each accompanied by aerosol cans reflecting their creator. In these imaginative scenarios, Popeye swaps his spinach can, and Snow White trades her poisoned apple for a spray paint can, imbuing the exchange with profound symbolism. By incorporating childhood symbols into his art, FAT transforms them into tools of expression, capturing the essence of his unique artistic vision.
