The primary inspiration for this piece, *Divine Touch,* is Michelangelo's *The Creation of Adam.* I’ve always been fascinated by the powerful depiction of the connection between the divine and humanity in his work. In reimagining this iconic moment, I wanted to explore the idea of creation and spirituality in a more modern context, using vibrant colors and abstract forms to convey the essence of that connection rather than the literal figures. It’s not just about life being given, but about the continuous, dynamic relationship between humanity and the divine.
What do you hope its viewers will feel/think?
I hope viewers will feel a sense of wonder and contemplation when they see *Divine Touch.* The goal is to invite them to reflect on their own sense of purpose and connection, whether it’s spiritual, personal, or philosophical. The bold use of color and abstract forms is meant to evoke emotion, drawing them into a deeper exploration of what "creation" means to them. I want them to think about the invisible threads that link us to something greater than ourselves.
Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, and style?
I chose this subject because the creation of life is an awe-inspiring moment that transcends time and culture. It's a universal theme, and Michelangelo’s work captures its beauty in such a timeless way. As for the medium and style, I wanted to use expressive brushstrokes and vibrant, modern colors to bring a fresh energy to the subject. The abstract elements allow for more personal interpretation, making the piece feel relevant to contemporary audiences while still honoring the original. The blend of tradition and modernity reflects the ongoing dialogue between the past and present in art.
