In my paintings, the central figure is the woman. I strive to capture her divine beauty and complexity using an abundance of shades and colors. Each painting is not just an image but a window into the intricate and diverse world of the female soul.

The color palette in my paintings plays a key role in revealing the inner world of the woman. The variety of shades symbolizes her multifaceted nature and uniqueness; every detail and every color adds a new layer to the understanding of her inner state and emotions. The women in my paintings represent complex, deeply feeling, and intellectually rich personalities; each color and shade speaks to different aspects of their essence.

On the other hand, the simple and contrasting colors that I use over the main shades represent our perception of a woman’s mood. These colors are often monochromatic and without shades, symbolizing our (male) inability to fully grasp the complexity and depth of female emotions. In this contrast lies the main charm—our perception often proves to be too simplistic compared to the richness of a woman’s inner world.

Through my work, I want to show that men and women are different in many ways, and it is in these differences that our strength and beauty lie. Men see the world differently; their perception is more straightforward and unambiguous, whereas women see and feel much deeper and more multilayered.

These paintings are an invitation to dialogue, an attempt to understand and feel what is hidden behind the external appearance. They remind us of the necessity for greater understanding and respect for women's emotions and experiences, and the importance of recognizing and admiring the multifaceted nature of women

Evgeny Potapkin is a contemporary Russian painter whose work focuses on the complexity and beauty of women. In his paintings, the central figure is always the woman, and through the use of an extensive color palette, he seeks to capture her divine beauty and the intricacies of her inner world. Each piece is more than just an image; it serves as a window into the multifaceted nature of the female soul, exploring both her emotional depth and intellectual richness.

The color palette in Potapkin's work plays a pivotal role in conveying the layers of the female experience. The variety of shades symbolizes the uniqueness and complexity of women, with each color adding a new dimension to the portrayal of their inner state and emotions. The women depicted in his paintings represent deeply feeling and intellectually complex personalities, with each hue reflecting different aspects of their essence.

In contrast, the simple, often monochromatic colors used over the primary shades represent a male perspective—one that is more straightforward and unable to fully capture the depth of female emotions. This contrast highlights the inherent charm in the male gaze, which is often too simplistic to comprehend the full complexity of a woman’s inner world.

Through his work, Potapkin emphasizes the differences between men and women, suggesting that strength and beauty lie in these distinctions. Men tend to perceive the world in a more direct, unambiguous way, while women experience it with greater depth and complexity. Potapkin's paintings invite dialogue, encouraging viewers to understand and appreciate what lies beneath the surface and to recognize the importance of respecting and admiring the multifaceted nature of women.
