I created "The Lie (Dreams on a String)," as a visual metaphor for the deceptive promises of freedom under oppressive systems. At first glance, the pigeons soaring in the sky suggest liberation and movement. Yet, upon closer inspection, these birds are tethered to rusting towers and an outdated metallic balloon, their flight constrained by invisible strings.

The decayed towers and balloon represent archaic systems that continue to restrict progress under the guise of offering freedom. These oppressive structures are juxtaposed against the vibrant colors of a distant city, a beacon of hope and renewal. The contrast between the foreground's decay and the background's vitality emphasizes the disparity between the illusion of freedom and the reality of systemic control.

I used these elements to challenge viewers to question the structures that govern their lives. Are we truly free, or are we bound by invisible strings, trapped within systems that only appear to grant us liberty? "The Lie (Dreams on a String)" serves as a powerful reminder to seek true freedom by breaking away from the deceptive ties of oppression and embracing genuine progress.

This piece is not just a critique of outdated systems but also a call to action. I invite you to recognize the lies that hold us back and I hope to inspire you to imagine a world where the promise of freedom is not tethered but real and unrestricted.
