The work entitled “Leda” is a clear inspiration for #LeonardoDaVinci that has influenced, I would say, better, dazzled, my attention since I was a child. Struck by the Leonardo light that shapes her paintings, I have always conceived the pictorial work as a three-dimensional creation to the point of making it an identifying sign of my personal style. The idea of building the surface with various materials was born from the studies on light as it is modeled on them.

Ester Maria Negretti, 1978 Como.

"It is the future that conditions the present, as when Michelangelo created the Pietà: every stroke was in the vision of the future, not of the present nor of the past".

She follows the vocation of painting since she was a child, receiving her first prize at the age of eleven. The journey towards art continuesthrough the study of textile design, in which she graduates at “Setificio di Como”. Afterwards she collaborated with several design studios creating wallpapers, furniture and clothing. Then, Negretti decides to attend Brera for two years; but instead of carrying on an academic path, she feels the desire to follow the good Renaissance tradition: Negretti forms her painting technique in the “studio” of expert painters learning on the field the trade secrets, thus strengthening a solid preparation and a growing interest in contemporary art. Having refined her taste, she decides to devote herself exclusively to painting. Her work, her style and her very personal technique receive approval and growing interest from critics and audiences, and the favour of collectors since the first solo exhibition in 2002.

She has brought her artworks to many cities, just to mention a few: Roma, Florence, Milan, Como, Benevento, Mantua, Genoa, Venice, Oslo, Paris, Boston, Lugano, Zurich, San Vincenzo, Isola d’Elba.

The last artistic research of Ester Maria Negretti is dedicated to water. Outside the walls of the atelier, the wide spaces, the physical and mental vastness of the new marine reality, transform Negretti’s artworks. Canvases become gigantic as the sea and the air which knows no
restraint.
