Eric G. Weets, born in 1951 in Belgium and died in 2018, spent a large part of his life in India where he lived and worked. From his childhood, he faced academic difficulties due to his dyslexia, and was raised by his maternal grandparents. Despite his academic failures, he found an artistic vocation that would mark his life. Although he trained as a diamond cutter, Weets took on a variety of odd jobs to feed his growing interest in painting, jazz, and later, electronic music.

A deeply pacifist, he became disillusioned with the Hippie movement because of its increasing commercialization. His nomadic spirit led him to travel as far as the Philippines, before settling permanently in India. It was there that he met Filomena Pawar, who became his privileged interlocutor with the outside world while he withdrew more and more into his private life.

Influenced by Paul Klee, Gauguin, Bosch and Miró, Eric Weets developed a unique style of sketching, often done in ink on canvas. His works reveal a deeply pacifist sensibility and a reflection on the human condition, blending multiple artistic influences with an introspective and personal approach.
