Nato a Bologna nel 1959, consegue la maturità artistica nel '78. Tra i suoi docenti il pittore Piero Manai, lo scultore e fotografo Vecelio Peverati, i pittori Satta, Boni e Montanari. Fin dai primi anni del liceo entra in contatto con la fotografia, iniziando una personale ricerca sull' elaborazione chimica e grafica delle proprie immagini. Verso la fine degli anni '70, i primi esperimenti con materiali Polaroid rivelano la possibilità di unire due mondi apparentemente in contrasto tra loro, il realismo dell' immagine fotografica e l'estrema creatività della pittura. Così, negli anni successivi, le tecniche acquisite gli consentono di amalgamare maggiormente il proprio gusto pittorico alla fotografia.
La sperimentazione porta inevitabilmente all' avvicinamento delle recenti tecniche digitali. Il computer, che fino ad allora era stato osservato con fredda indifferenza, assume lentamente una posizione di rilievo come strumento creativo. Prende il posto delle forbici usate per i collages, si affianca a pennelli e matite, fino ad arrivare ad essere una valida alternativa alla camera oscura.
Quasi tutti i lavori recenti sono frutto di una miscellanea di tecniche che spaziano appunto dal Polaroid alla grafica e dalla pittura al digitale.
