Since ancient times, the flowing of clear and good-quality water has been likened to the flowing and carrying of wealth. This flowing water is called “Tomimizu (富水)” in Japanese.
The crane is said to last a thousand years, and is considered a bird of good fortune, symbolizing longevity.
The iris is famous as a good luck charm to purge evil spirits, because its leaves resemble the shape of a sword and emit a refreshing fragrance.
Flowing water, cranes, and irises are drawn using the Kyoyuzen technique.
