Né à Hasselt en 1959
Etudie aux Beaux-Arts de la ville de Tournai de 1977 à 1981.
Travaille comme céramiste dès 1981
Formation de sculpteur à la RHOK Académie à Etterbeek en 1993 à 1997.
C'est en étant actif comme artisan que je prends conscience que rien ne se force.
4 années de formation ont permis de donner un fondement et même si cela est assez pour pratiquer il y a un grand fossé entre ce qui advient et ce que l'on a projeté dans son travail.
L'art nait tout autant de l'observation que de l'action. Le travail a donc besoin comme un fruit de tous les éléments pour arriver a maturité.
Pour le céramiste c'est la terre qui se modèle.
C'est l'eau qui rend plastique,
C'est l'air qui fait durcir
C'est le feu qui finalise.
Les mains qui façonnent sont l'instrument de la pensée/volonté agissant/murissant sous l'action.
Mais le temps passé a murir de manière subconsciente "l'oeuvre" est tout autant important.
Le choix des matériaux ont pour moi été une succession de découvertes.
La terre m'a permis de découvrir le tridimensionnel.
Ensuite le bois - élément tout aussi naturel- trouvé en pleine nature avec déjà une forme partiellement préétablie m'ont inspiré.
Le métal - cuivre- fer - également malléable et soudable grâce au feu ont donné une profondeur supplémentaire.
La pierre se donne d'une tout autre autre manière et cela a encore d'avantage permis de me rapprocher de l'espace temps (géologique) pour me connecter a l'immensité de l'oeuvre de l'univers.
Tous ces éléments sont des contributions a ce que devient mon oeuvre qui se dessine dans le temps d'une vie artistique.
