Thaís Gomez "Arte Tropical"
Thaís Ibanez
19th Feb 1982, Diadema, São Paulo, Brazil.
ARTIST STATEMENT
The main focus of my work is the valuation of Brazilian culture; my paintings represent the most intense demonstrations of my people which are music, dance, crafts and everything that is part of the "Brazilian Folklore."
I use bright colours that represent the tropical climate and the human warmth of my country, and do them a source of joy.
I hope I can increasingly lead to "Culture in Brazilian form of Painting" * the four corners of the world!
* Once defined my work the art critic Oscar D'Ambrosio in a subject matter published on its website Artcanal. Oscar D'Ambrosio is journalist and Master of Visual Arts at the Art Institute of UNESP, includes the International Association of Art Critics (Section Brazil).
BIOGRAPHY
At 18 years I started my career as a plastic artist and then awakened in me a desire to portray the cultural riches of my country, at that time I did not know the art known as "Naïf" and even that it was what I did, after I meet it, I really identified my work.
My inspiration comes from ceramics, sculpture, dance, music and other cultural events from various regions of Brazil, always respecting the originality of creations observed over the years.
My work can be seen in the U.S., Latin and North America and Europe.
Some of my paintings were bought by a major producer of wine from the Cote d'Azur region in southern France, precisely in Saint Tropez in the Castle "Déffends Château", directed by Xavier Vergès.
In Brazil my work can be seen in several states, including the MAP (Museum of Folk Art – Diadema/SP), in São Paulo/Capital some works were exposed by Jean-Raquin in its Cellar Restaurant "Le Tire Bouchon," named by him as "The House of Wine " .
I was selected recently to the Hall of Arts in Santa Barbara d'Oeste/ SP/ Brazil and in a show at the Eldorado Cultural Centre in Diadema/ Sao Paulo/Brazil.
