Ricardo Passos nasceu em 1963, e desde muito cedo se apaixonou pelas artes plásticas em geral. Efectuou até à actualidade, mais de 60 exposições, individuais e colectivas, no país e no estrangeiro. Concluiu o Curso da Escola de Artes Decorativas António Arroio e o Curso Superior de Marketing e Publicidade do IADE, e ainda o Curso de Pintura da Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes. Frequentou também, o Curso de Design de Joalharia Contemporânea da Escola Contacto Directo.
A sua actividade profissional desenvolve-se essencialmente na área da Pintura e do Design Gráfico, o que lhe permite exercitar quotidianamente noções de equilíbrio formal e conceptual, apurando assim a sua expressividade e sensibilidade artística.
Distinguido por várias vezes nas diversas áreas de expressão artística – Pintura, design gráfico, joalharia, cerâmica, cenografia – está representado em várias colecções em Portugal, Espanha, Inglaterra, Estados Unidos, Brasil, Itália e Austrália.
Foi convidado a representar Portugal, numa exposição que decorreu na Galeria Laterna, na Eslovénia, e que contou com a presença de 27 artistas de cada um dos estados membros da União Europeia.
É autor de uma publicação biografia retrospectiva da artista plástica Reny Golcman.
Convidado a participar como membro do júri, em diversos eventos de carácter artístico.

“O Artista no Seu Atelier” - Um filme documental sobre a obra de Ricardo Passos, realizado no seu atelier, faz parte do acervo da Cinemateca Portuguesa ANIM – Arquivo Nacional das Imagens em Movimento.
