Amos Zelikson was born in 1930 in Haifa, Israel. Today he lives and works in France, where he continues to create remarkable works in varied mediums such as charcoal on paper, pencil on paper, watercolor on paper, oil on canvas and ink on paper. His artistic style oscillates between figurative and impressionism, often characterized by the use of pastel colors.

From his teenage years, Amos studied under Paul Konrad Hoenich, a painter of the Viennese Expressionist school, who greatly influenced his bright and airy oil painting technique. In 1949, Amos was one of the founders of Kibbutz Yreon in the Galilee, but he left there to pursue studies in civil engineering at the Technion in Haifa. In 1962, thanks to a thesis scholarship, he joined the École Polytechnique in France, where he began to frequent artistic circles in Montparnasse, notably the Grande Chaumière academy.

While pursuing a scientific career in the Solid Mechanics laboratory of the École Polytechnique, Amos Zelikson continues to paint and draw. It is inspired by the streets of Paris, the quays of the Seine and the landscapes of the Chevreuse valley in Palaiseau. His works are imbued with the heritage of the Impressionists, with a personal touch that combines classic and modern inspirations.

Amos Zelikson has exhibited mainly at the Shai Danon Gallery in Tel Aviv and the Municipal Gallery in Jerusalem. He also participated in several editions of the Art'Genève fair. From 1996, he collaborated with the Librairie Galerie Racine in Paris, illustrating books of poetry and enriching head prints. He is today the permanent artist of this gallery.

A solitary artist, Amos Zelikson died on July 29, 2017, leaving behind a rich body of work composed of oils, pastels, watercolors, as well as pencil, charcoal and ink drawings. His creations continue to inspire and move those who contemplate them.
