Marta Bessa nasceu em 10 de Agosto de 1971 na cidade de Peso da Regua
Desde menina revelou uma grande apetência pelas artes plásticas.
É uma autodidacta e pinta com a mesma necessidade com que respira.
Apesar do seu lado artístico natural, a sua vida profissional fez incursões e caminhos pelo Jornalismo e Designer Gráfico, embora sempre mesclado com a pintura.
A sua Pintura reflecte a influencia dos meios onde viveu, nas cidades de Peso da Regua, Porto e Lamego e nota-se a fabulosa influencia do vinho do Porto e das paisagens do Alto Douro Vinhateiro, do Porto Patrimonio Mundial e das terras de Ribadouro, sobretudo nos seus NUS.
Participou em exposições coletivas e em importantes exposições individuais, como por exemplo:
