La mer et les bateaux , à voile ou à moteur , Patrick BIGEON les a fréquentés dès son plus jeune age , puisqu'il est né à Cherbourg , tout au bout du Cotentin , et y a passé toute sa jeunesse . Il allait sur les quais des transatlantiques regarder les manœuvres des petits et grands bateaux .
Son envie de les représenter se manifesta très tôt et il commença tout seul à dessiner de vieux gréements , au crayon et à la plume , encouragé pour cela par Jean Charles Arnault , fondateur du musée maritime Chantereyne .
Il découvrit les tableaux de Marin Marie ( peintre de la marine) et ce fut l'éblouissement qui le conduisit à peindre à l'aquarelle ou à l'acrylique .Les années passant , les formats se sont agrandis et la qualité des œuvres s'est affinée .Les ciels et la mer ( toujours ornés de goélands) se distinguent par la nuance des couleurs et le réalisme des formes .
La Normandie et Paris ne sont pas oubliés dans les sujets ainsi que divers objets décorés .
On retrouve quelques uns de ses tableaux au Danemark , en Italie , aux Pays Bas, au Sénégal , à la Réunion....
