Bernard Filippi est né à Tox (Corsica) en 1950.
, il fait partie de la section artistique du Lycée de Bastia. Après des études en arts plastiques à l’Université de Paris I, il enseigne les au lycée Honoré de Balzac à Paris. A partir de 1995, il enseigne à l’université de Paris XIII.
Peintre, graveur et lithographe, il participe depuis 1970 à plusieurs salons et manifestations en France et à l’étranger. Il expose régulièrement à Paris, en Corse et à L’Isle-sur-La Sorgue.
EN 1973, avec Ange Leccia, Jean paul Pancrazi et Antoine Graziani il est fondateur du « Groupe Tox » qui inaugure une série d’expositions à la Maison des jeunes et de la culture de Bastia qui deviendra le centre UNA VOLTA.
Avec françois RETALI et Jean-Louis FIESCHI (Falellu) il anime l’association pour la valorisation de l’Art (AVA) qui de 1991à 2005 organise des expositions à Patrimoniu (cave Orenga) à Penta, Bonifacio, Londres, Bruxelles, Paris.
Il fait paraître plusieurs ouvrages de bibliophilie ou ses créations accompagnent les poésies d’Antoine Graziani. Jean Louis Giovannoni, Guy Cloutier. Il est aujourd’hui, représentant des créateurs en arts plastiques au conseil économique, social, économique, environnemental et culturel de Corse.
"Je peins pour voir, voir les actions de peinture et pour ce que cela enclenche et déclenche, ce qu'il advient.
La peinture, peut-être devrais-je dire la couleur, a toujours eu une formidable action sur mon esprit et sans doute n'y a-t'il que cela qui m’importe, ce qui se passe pour moi quand je peins.
J'ai surtout la prétention et la naïveté de croire que cette expérience peut être utile et compréhensible pour d'autres, les "frères humains qui après nous vivrez". Avant tout ce travail doit être bénéfique pour tous ceux qui regardent, osent entreprendre ce voyage de vision auquel la peinture toujours nous convie ».
La peinture de Bernard Filippi produit la sensation d’une vision solaire. Comme Matisse qui justement était venu à Ajaccio rencontrer la lumière, Filippi se nourrit de la lumière violente des étés insulaires.
La couleur est le point de départ, la matière première, toujours elle anime la toile pour transcrire les émotions éprouvées. Pour paraphraser Picasso à propos de Matisse encore : « Bernard Filippi a la couleur au ventre »
