Tol Dana is a self-taught artist whose passion for art has had periods of cessation and resumption throughout her life. She remembers that from her childhood, her drawings and paintings aroused admiration. At school, in visual arts classes, she obtained excellent grades. However, for several years, she put aside her pencils and brushes.
It was only at the age of 31 that she decided to resume her passion for art. Tol Dana is a versatile artist who refuses to limit herself to just one style. She is mainly inspired by nature, animals and other elements of everyday life. She likes to explore different techniques, play with light and shadow, experiment with colors and textures. She strives to approximate hyperrealism in her work, seeking to capture the minute details of her subjects.
What motivates her the most is the search for the ideal photo that will serve as a model for her painting. She attaches great importance to the meticulousness of her work, but she also leaves room for her imagination, bringing her own creative touch to the works. She likes to play with artistic freedom while preserving the essence of her subjects.
As an artist, Tol Dana prefers to create works that evoke joy, interest and fascination. Although she has experienced dark times in her life, painting is for her a form of therapy and a way to escape. She is of Cambodian origin and fled the war with her family. Painting has become an integral part of herself.
The positive feedback from those close to him and acquaintances reinforced his confidence in his artistic talents. Tol Dana has also received commission requests from outside his social circle, a testament to the interest in his work.
Among the artists who inspire him, we find masters of hyperrealism like Denis Peterson, as well as contemporary artists and street art.
