Artwork is dedicated to the stay of the Russian writer Mikhail Lermontov in Taman in 1837. The village became a temporary shelter for the writer on his way to the Caucasus.
It is difficult to imagine what Lermontov went through at this time. His memories are preserved only in the story "Taman": "We drove up to a small house on the beach. The full moon shone on the thatched roof and white walls of my new home: in the courtyard, surrounded by a stone wall, stood another hut, smaller and older than the first. The shore sloped down to the sea almost at the very walls of it, and below with a continuous roar splashed dark blue waves."
Today, in 2020, the color of this place is preserved in the house-Museum of the writer. I tried to convey this atmosphere of privacy, natural purity and authenticity of life at that time.

Olga Bezhina is a prizewinning Russian painter. She frequently works 'en plein air,' rethinking natural colors and capturing the optical effect of light and wind flowing. For her, the open air acts as a creative laboratory, where the search for the most advanced pictorial approaches is carried out and new solutions discovered. Her resulting paintings are full of rhythm, bold colors and a balance of strength and silence that directly reflects the majestic landscapes of the Taman Peninsula.
