Natalie has always gravitated toward art, even as a young child. "It's the only thing I can do well," she says. contact her:gollygee(at)sbcglobal(dot)net or 920-437-2580. She calls her studio "The Back Room Gallery & Studio," where she exhibits with other local emerging artists.
She is inspired by countless predecessors, including Picasso, Kahlo, O'Keefe, Klimt, Scheile, Basquiat, Chagall, Cassat,Remedios Varo, Paschke, Ono,Violla, Terry Gilliam..okay....too many to name! All of them! She is inspried greatly by Dada and Surrealism as well as Pop Art, Mail Art, Conceptualism, and varied forms of musical expression. Her paintings are primarily figurative and conceptual in nature. She has begun to work in other mediums, to include collage, short film, photography and installation as well.
Natalie Vann attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison and the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Art with a minor in Graphic Communications. In need of an "art job", she created Hire-O-Glyphix Mural Painters in Green Bay, Wisconsin and does that on a part-time basis, is married with one child. She continues to strive to be an inspired artist, and is currently going to tackle some religious and political themes in her work. She was inspired by a trip to Italy in 1999 and a trip to Ireland in 2004.
It is her goal to show in many galleries and selling is a secondary goal.
"I will never stop art-making. After all, I've just begun."
