The Sanskrit term srivatsa means "beloved of Sri". Shri is the goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Vishnu, and shrivatsa is the auspicious sign that adorns Vishnu's chest. In addition, the endless knot or eternal knot (Skt. Shrivatsa, Tib. Dpal be'u) is a symbolic knot in Tibet and Mongolia. The motive is used in Tibetan Buddhism. As this knot has no end, so this symbol personifies the full attainment of Immeasurable Merits and the Five Kinds of Primordial Wisdom. A symbol of the interdependence of all phenomena and living things in the Universe.
