For workshop paintings that bear evidence of master craftsmanship, this attribution must be further qualified. While they may be less valuable for different reasons, reproductions and copies have had a tremendous impact on our experience. They reach a greater audience than originals and act as a tonic against commodification. Original Artwork could also refer to the first work, which is always preceding all others. Les origines du chat American Bobtail.....

Aux États-Unis, à la fin des années soixante-dix, les époux Sanders passaient leurs vacances en Arizona, près d’une réserve indienne lorsqu’un jour, au cours d’une promenade, ils trouvèrent un chaton de couleur "brown spotted tabby" dont la queue était très étrange : elle était courte, en forme de pompon et repliée sur le dos.
Intrigués et fascinés par son aspect curieux mais aussi par son intelligence et sa vivacité, ils le ramenèrent dans leur ferme de l’Iowa, où ce chat impétueux réussit à couvrir la Siamoise "seal point" de la maison. Une portée de chatons noirs à rayures "tabby" naquit, avec des queues soit longues, soit semblables à celles du papa. Certains furent donnés, d’autres allèrent vivre dans les greniers où, un beau jour, passa par hasard un gros chat "cream point" de la catégorie des Siamois mais aux pieds blancs.
Le résultat de sa rencontre avec les demoiselles de la portée fut vraiment fascinant : des chatons aux yeux bleus, à la queue courte, portant les marques des Siamois mais aux "pieds blancs". Un programme d’élevage et de sélection commença pour créer une nouvelle race, croisant également quelques Persans pour en allonger le poil. La nouvelle race fut définitivement mise au point en apportant également du sang de Maine Coon pour renforcer la puissance et la force de la structure morphologique. En 1988, la TICA (The International Cat Association) accepta le chat American Bobtail....

Michel Guillet, versatile artist, has been a figurative pastellist since January 2010. He is an active member of the “Pastel en Dauphiné” association. His artistic passion leads him to explore a multitude of varied motifs without being confined to a specific theme. Whether portraits, landscapes, still lifes or reproductions of works of art, Michel Guillet likes to capture the diversity of the world around him through his pastels.

What particularly sets Michel apart is his commitment to sharing his art with the public. During exhibitions, he engages in live demonstrations, offering visitors an insight into his creative process. He enjoys interacting with “admirers” of his work, informing them about his techniques and sometimes inviting them to actively participate in his demonstrations.

Michel Guillet is self-taught, but he prefers to consider that each of us has artistic talents that are just waiting to be revealed. He believes in everyone's ability to explore their creativity and let their talents flourish with a little practice and support.

Since his retirement in Aix-les-Bains at the beginning of 2012, Michel Guillet has enjoyed the time necessary to discover the splendors of the Alps and devote himself fully to his two passions: pastels and photography, where he excels as a 'amateur. His art reflects his love for the diversity of the world and his desire to share his creativity with the public.
