Masa Zodros is an artist photographer specializing in photo manipulation. In her photographs, she gives a special place to the portrait. She takes her models first in the studio then she works on graphic software to finalize her work.
She offers portraits, paintings, a representation of Kemite personalities and characters from her own imagination, helped by the inlay of WAX fabric and traditional African fabric, Adinkra or Egyptian symbols, masks... a whole set specific to the renaissance of African spirituality.
She would like to give a version of the black man and woman exempt from our historical traumatology. Of a history of domination, exploitation and alienation. A version outside of time in other dimensions where its people could have developed and achieved expansion in its culture and in the deployment of a society that resembles it. It's both a return to the past and one of the possible futures...
Masa Zodros lives and works in La Rochelle. Masa means “source of life” and ZODROS is a surname originating from the Congo where the workers “supposedly” under contract after 1948 and landed mainly in Marie Galante in Guadeloupe came from. It is also the name of his maternal grandmother. She is a graduate of Fine Arts from Marseille. She made the decision after twenty years in the field of training to devote herself full-time to her passion for photography.
