Lorenzo Monegato was born in Voghera (PV) in 1974 but his family is originally from the Veneto region.
He graduated as a surveyor in 1993 and obtained the qualification for the profession of surveyor in 1997, but has not continued his construction career, worked from 1998 to 2014 in the industrial field. She is an emerging self-taught artist, she did not attend art schools or academies, to freely express her artistic ideas.
The artist manifests her natural talent for drawing and painting at the age of 6 , with the first works with acrylic and watercolor on cardboard and then moving on to oil on canvas in adulthood, demonstrating a singular expressive force. Lorenzo Monegato began painting seriously from the beginning of 2013 and made his debut in September 2013 at the Chianciano Terme Biennale, with a mention in the New York Times newspaper, starting a path in continuous evolutionary growth.
Initially the artist began with a long series of portraits of imaginary metropolitan figurations of a cube-futuristic character, with a wide palette of contrasting warm and cold colors, asserting its proximity to American Pop Art, all with oil on canvas. In March 2014 he exhibited his first personal exhibition in Rome at the "Il Collezionista" gallery.
Subsequently he began his production of abstract urban architectural works, with a game of aerial perspectives, always with his usual explosive color palette, which he exhibited on the occasion of his solo exhibition in New York at the Artifact Gallery in July 2015.
Hence his personal artistic style "Metropolis", a name he will always use as the title of his solo exhibitions and as his business name art, always painting with oil on canvas, and exhibits the complete series of his artistic repertoire at the solo exhibition in Lugano at the Finter Bank at the end of 2015. On the occasion of the Paviart 2016 art exhibition, the artist exhibits a new work with acrylic on canvas which contains all the production of Metropolis, "The Valley of the Dolls", an innovative work made up of several folding panels. Metropolis by Lorenzo Monegato thus represents a series of abstract figurative and perspective urban productions in an imaginary metropolitan context. The artist exhibits in the best international fairs in Italy (Padua, Genoa, Forlì, Pavia, Parma) and in the world (Los Angeles, Miami, Paris, Innsbruck, Monaco) and with personal exhibitions in Rome, Lugano, New York and Milan; one of his works was auctioned by Sotheby's Lugano in June 2015. The artist has been reviewed and published in various magazines and art volumes with an international circulation and has received numerous artistic awards. His works are present in numerous public and private collections in Italy and around the world. The artist lives and works in Milan.
