Giacomo Sonaglia was born in Rome on June 19, 1950. It is difficult to define the moment in his life that marks his encounter with art, and when questioned he replies: “I've been doing it for as long as I can remember”. After the compulsory education, driven by economic difficulties typical of the period, he began working at a very young age in the artistic workshop of the painter and advertiser Fernando Ribaudo. Here, starting with the humblest tasks, he faces a rigid apprenticeship. Over time he will collaborate in the realization of sketches for the cinema, coming to perfect disparate artistic techniques, also thanks to a training course achieved in the same period.

Fourteen years of workshop work coincide with Sonaglia's first artistic period, inspired by Dalì's Surrealism and De Chirico's Metaphysics. He will subsequently work for an artisan advertising poster company, without ever forgetting his true passion. We can say that the life of this painter was accompanied by a dream: that of being able to live only in art.

It is precisely this desire that will motivate him to open, together with his wife Anna Rita, the company "Art and Advertising" in 1984. Life as a painter seems to be a very ambitious goal for the company, which for its first decade mainly lives of advertising graphics and poster design. But over the years Sonaglia's artistic dedication pays off. In fact, at the beginning of 2000 the company will mainly work on artistic commissions: from portraits to frescoes, from copyright copies to own works. In this period, the painter felt the need for novelty, which was subsequently concretized in a particularly expressive and personal style. Material supports, strong images, vivid colors, are evident peculiarities in the most recent paintings of this dedicated artist.

Today he works assiduously, selling and exhibiting internationally, and we can certainly say that he has fulfilled the dream of a lifetime, of a lifetime for art.
