About the author
Biagio Chiesi, a contemporary Italian artist, was born in Tripoli, Libya, to Sicilian parents. His early life was marked by displacement, as the events surrounding Libyan impositions in 1970 forced him and his family to return to Italy. It was during these tumultuous years that Biagio, with his shy and sensitive spirit, found solace and purpose in the world of painting.
Possessing undeniable innate talent, Chiesi embarked on his artistic journey as a self-taught individual. Over time, he refined his skills under the guidance of mentors Masaniello Luschi and Aldo Mazzi. Immersed in the picturesque landscapes of the Tuscan countryside and coastlines during outdoor painting excursions with his teachers and colleagues, Chiesi honed his craft, drawing inspiration from the Macchiaioli, post-impressionist, and pointillist movements.
An ardent advocate for painting en plein air, Chiesi finds inspiration amidst the blooming fields or by the tranquil sea. His presence "at the front" with palette in hand signifies his dedication to capturing the essence of nature firsthand, before retreating to his studio to complete his works. Open to critique and feedback, Chiesi's modesty is paired with a steadfast determination to grow and evolve as an artist, allowing him to continually enrich his artistic and spiritual journey.
Chiesi's paintings are characterized by an abundance of light, soft and muted hues, and a refined graphical sensibility. His meticulous attention to detail ensures that his works are captivating both up close and from afar, satisfying the discerning eye of the connoisseur.
Having participated in numerous exhibitions, both solo and group, in Italy and abroad, Chiesi's talent has garnered recognition, earning him several first prizes in national painting competitions.
