About the author
Artiste Slovène, Iztok Sostarec réalise ses études artistiques à Zagreb (Croatie) à l'Ecole du design puis à l'Université de technologie du textile (1981). Ces premières expériences professionnelles se déroulent dans le monde de la mode où il exerce comme créateur de collections d'accessoires de mode. En parallèle, il travaille comme créateur de costumes et de décors pour le théâtre en Croatie, en Slovénie et en Autriche. A partir de 2005, il se consacre principalement à l'art plastique et commence à exposer en mars 2006 en Slovénie ("Chaises peintes").
Dès lors, il ne cessera de concevoir et de créer des projets et des installations qui lui permettront d'exposer régulièrement en Slovénie et en Croatie. Iztok arrive en France en juin 2009 par le biais d'une résidence d'artiste au CAMAC (Marnay sur Seine, Aube). Il décide de s'installer en France très rapidement après cette expérience et y réalise ses premières expositions au château de la Motte Tilly (Motte Tilly, Aube) en avril et mai 2010 intitulée "Chevaux Blancs" et "Cinétique du Je".
Particulièrement attiré, à ces débuts, par le tissu, Iztok introduit très rapidement dans son travail le papier puis progressivement de nombreux matériaux comme le plastique, la peinture et le métal. Iztok n'a pas de matériaux de prédilection mais le papier reste un élément redondant et très présent dans ces dernières œuvres, qu'elles soient imposantes ou non. Cet attrait particulier est lié à sa fascination, depuis toujours, pour l'Origami qu'il utilise souvent dans son processus créatif (cf. "Mobiles Haïkus" février 2007, "Chevaux Blancs" juillet 2009 et avril 2010, "Kimonos" avril 2011, "Réseau" juillet 2012).
