Marta Shmatava is a contemporary Belarusian painter. Her artistic journey began at the Minsk State Art College named after AK Glebov, where she laid the foundation for her creative skills. Subsequently, she furthered her artistic knowledge at the Belorussian Academy of Arts, solidifying her expertise in the field.

Since 1989, Marta Shmatava has been an esteemed Member of the Union of Artists of Belarus, a testament to her recognition and standing in the Belarusian art community. Her works find homes in both museums and private collections, reflecting the widespread appreciation for her artistry.

Noteworthy among her creations are thematic series of color linocuts inspired by the poetic cycle of the renowned Belarusian poet Maxim Bogdanovich. Five of these linocuts are housed in the collections of prestigious institutions, including the National Art Museum of Belarus, the Museum of Maxim Bogdanovich in Minsk, and the Grafik Museum Stiftung Schreiner in Bad Steuben, Germany.

Her influence extends beyond museums, with her paintings present in esteemed institutions such as the Art Foundation of the Republic of Belarus, the art collection of Prior Bank in Belarus, and the History Museum with the Art Gallery of Bragin, Belarus.
