Artiste statement:

Artist’s Statement
I usually start each painting without a fully formed idea of what I want to achieve but rather allow my subconscious thoughts and process of painting itself to take over. This way of working often leads to several dead-ends before the finished painting is fully realised. . My current paintings explore the idea of creating order out of the seemingly chaotic, whilst seeking balance and harmony in an increasingly dysfunctional world
I attended St. Martin’s School of Art in the late 1970’s. Abandoning my studies to pursue a career in music, I was a founder member of the British punk band UK Subs and made several appearances on the BBC’s “Top of the Pops”. I also appeared in Julian Temple’s film “Punk Can Take It” and more recently in Lionel Guedj’s “Rock ‘n Roll of Corse”, a biographical portrait of Corsican guitarist Henry Padovani, which was officially selected for the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
Having quit the music scene at the end of the eighties I returned to playing music in 2007 and have since toured regularly in Europe as well as Australia and Japan.
I returned to painting in 2013
