Laurence Pustoc'h is a contemporary French artist. Pustoc'h is best known for her oil paintings of expressive portraits and disjointed bodies. Lying on the canvas with a lively and generous gesture, dented characters reveal their share of intimate silence. The palette of muted tones enhanced with a hint of red testifies to a heavy and distressing atmosphere. The portraits are treated on the spot for fear that they will disappear. The gesture is precise and freed from the aesthetic quest to reveal only the essential. It is in a surge of honesty that the artist confronts us with the brutality of our human condition.
Laurence Pustoc'h was born in 1956, in France. Her works have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally.
