Since 1990 she has been working with clay and studying the self-taught material in this regard. Even then, she put her own stamp on her work, but it was only in 1997 that she felt a bit uncomfortable and followed a few sessions on construction technique with Paulca, a ceramist from Roeselare.
Kathy's ceramics are usually the innocent nude with a touch of humor in terms of facial expressions, but at the same time she does away with the model images imposed by the media. The style is unique to her, playful, whimsical, and yet frivolous. She mainly bakes her visual work in gas ovens, pit fire or Raku, depending on the work. The images have a soul with a deeper meaning, emphasized by the firing method and finish of the piece. The use of foreign raw materials gives her work an extra dimension. The works in clay, often combined with external substances such as barbed wire, iron, stone, plexiglass, etc., are sometimes crude, but still have a serene undertone that encourages the viewer to think. As a self-taught artist, she has managed for years to be a welcome guest in galleries at art events and teaching courses. This lady decorated her stripes through various participations in events - competitions and exhibitions at home and abroad. Needless to say, this artist's work can be found far beyond Belgian borders
A few years ago, Kathy took her first steps into the wonderful world of precious metals and gemstones. She develops her designs for silver jewelry with great care and originality into a beautiful piece of jewelry, whether or not in combination with a gemstone.
