BIOGRAPHIE

Josiane Gagnon est née et vit à Montréal. Elle obtint un diplôme de graphisme en 1992 au Cégep du Vieux-Montréal. Elle évolua durant 15 ans en publicité et pour une maison d’édition de livres d’enfants. Plus tard, elle décida d'étudier les sciences humaines et elle obtint un baccalauréat en psychologie, puis un diplôme 2e cycle en art-thérapie. Ces dernières années, elle concilie son travail d’intervenante psychosociale et sa passion pour les arts visuels. Elle intensifie sa pratique artistique pour retrouver le contact privilégié avec la matière visuelle.

DESCRIPTIF DE LA DÉMARCHE ARTISTIQUE

Je cherche à articuler différentes facettes des expériences phénoménologiques de l'être humain. Je m’inspire de plusieurs ouvrages théoriques dont ceux de Gaston Bachelard (1884-1962) philosophe français des sciences, de la poésie et du temps. Bachelard décline plusieurs images imaginées à partir de ses rêveries de la matière. On y rencontre les thèmes de l’intimité matérielle, de la maison onirique, du complexe de Jonas, de la grotte, du labyrinthe, de la racine et bien d’autres. Mes propositions visuelles ouvrent le dialogue avec les concepts de différents auteurs philosophiques et scientifiques à travers des images que je créée. Je m'intéresse tant à la matérialité qu'à la temporalité et la textualité. J'utilise principalement le pinceau et le crayon. J’évolue de plus en plus vers une pratique hybride en incluant la manipulation du papier en bas-relief, les arts imprimés tel que la gravure, ainsi que la photographie.
