I visited Malta in 2011 when I took part in a painting holiday. During the week I produced a lot of sketches at various locations mainly on the island of Gozo where we stayed. On my last 2 days I travelled round the Island of Malta and took numerous photos of the harbour and coast. This was painted from one of those photos, the harbour of Valletta from the tour boat. I kept the buildings quite simple as I focused on the reflections and overall feel for the place. I left out the masts of the boat, using masking fluid that contrast the soft washes giving the painting some interest.
Watercolour on paper. Size: 12 x 16 inches. Year: 2021. Unframed.

I aim to bring forth feelings of happiness and positive energy with my colourful watercolour paintings inspired by nature. I paint what I see and see the natural world around me as an extension of my inner self. As a visually impaired artist, caused by a condition called blepharospasm, my latest paintings focus more on colour harmonies and overall feel of the subject rather than details. After two years of hopelessness I managed to get back into painting and I found great comfort in doing so. Although I had many years of art education both in my native Hungary and here in the UK, I am a self-taught watercolorist.
