Born in 1945, Hiran Mitra left the village of Kharagpur at the age of 14 and settled in Kolkata, guided by his passion
for art.

Hiran Mitra graduated from Kolkata Government School of Fine Arts in 1966. Subsequently, the artist has distinguished himself in several aspects of Indian culture, such as art, literature, cinema. or the theater.

Today the artist lives and works in India and the United Kingdom.

Hiran Mitra is a talented artist who has an impressive artistic background! His works have been exhibited in solo exhibitions since 1966.

The artist has also exhibited many times in group exhibitions since 1969.

Many of his works are now in private collections.

Hiran Mitra's works are particularly poetic.

Here is one of his quotes from the series entitled "The Fall of the Leaves" that the Galerie Libre Est L'Art has the honor to exhibit: "When a leaf is gently detached from a tree, it takes away memory and a after wasted time.

To curb this unbearable detachment from its origins, since my youth, I wanted to reorganize, repaint, recreate and sometimes reproduce in order to bring it back to life. There is no difference between the real and the unreal.

Fascinated by their harmonious colors, patterns and shapes, I would research their unique stories.

Recompose their music and their lament through the traces of my dancing calligraphic forms. The lines on the sheets merge with thoughts and memories.

The sepia tones, deep browns and traces of black make us relive old passages ”.
