GABRIELL, A SYMBOLIC AND VISIONARY PAINTER
Gabriel Lavoie, who was born on March 22, 1956 in Témiscouata (Quebec, Canada), is a self-taught artist.
With such a predestined name and a visionary and spiritual approach, the artist Gabriell is undoubtedly a new reference in the world of symbolic painting. For him everything we paint expresses what we are. Gabriell uses paint to manifest and communicate the Light within him.
Living simply and humbly in Quebec, Gabriell grew up in the Lanaudière region. From an early age, his talents as a designer surprised by the quality of his work which seemed to come to him quite naturally. Subsequently, over the years, his love for drawing earned him, in the 1980s, his first letters of nobility in the art of portraiture. Despite this recognition, he feels a great void within him and several changes on a personal level trigger a deep awareness of the meaning of his life.
During this phase, he questions not only his performance and recognition needs but also his talent. This will be the turning point in his artistic career: a new path opens up to him and new creativity emerges. This is the beginning of his career as an initiatory painter. Guided by a greater confidence in his talent and a more present spirituality, he sketches some landscapes inspired by magic that reflect his new aspirations. This experience lasts a few months and turns out to be very revealing. Subsequently, oil and acrylic painting became her new way of expression. The symbiosis between his personal research and painting gives rise to works of great depth and allows him to express his immense potential.
In retrospect, he also understands through symbolic analysis how much his evening job as a janitor in a school helped purify his ego and strengthen his spiritual will. Indeed, in order to be able to devote his days to the development of his artistic talent while ensuring the financial resources necessary to live on the material level, Gabriell has for several years held the position of evening concierge in a private educational establishment. . His tasks included, among other things, the cleaning of several rooms on the four floors of the school, including toilets and corridors.
