Florence Fraisse

Born in 1973 in Narbonne, south of France.
Motioned by a huge curiosity, studied various subjects from ingineering sciences to Art, via human sciences, with one continuing aim : finding links, connections between things ; keys to understand the world on a global/human scale.
Bachelor’s degree in sociology (France, 1996), bachelor’s degree in information and communication (France, 1997), Bachelor’s degree in Photography (University of Minnesota School of Art, USA, 1999), bachelor’s degree in Art (cinema) (2000).

artistic path :
1999-2000 : cinema (bachelor’s degree) at the University of Montpellier, France.
1998-1999 : Photography and ceramics studies (Bachelor’s degree) at the University of Minnesota School of Art, Minneapolis, USA.
1995 : watercolour classes in the Atelier of Castelnau-le-Lez, France.
1993-1995 : Photography, in ASCEE-34, Montpellier, France.
1991-1993 : Art drawing classes in l’Ecole des Beaux Arts of Rennes, France.

Particularly involved in cotemporary art issues and reflexions (especially through photographic work and installations), I try to determine the rules of colour as a universal emotional language.
For me, Art is a place of discourse, a sly link between the artist and the observer. That’s why I like to play with matter and interactivity in order to generate this obvious moment when the observer has to face the responsability of being an actor, ic et nunc, and not only a quidam seized in the comfortable position of an unconcerned distant consumer : everyone is part of The Big Masterpiece (world), and there is no way to escape.
