Un article dans Ouest-France concluait :
"ATELIER 3 présentait, voici quelques semaines, Jeanloup SIEFF - Avec Alain FIDON il semblerait que ce lieu d'exposition ait définitivement choisi la qualité. C'est assez rare pour être souligné".
• Exposition à Paris, "NUS ET PETITES MORTS", en Mai, au "Relais de Montmartre le bistrot des photographes".

• Seconde exposition à Paris, à la galerie LOPLOP, en Juillet. À ce propos, Michel NURIDSANY écrivait dans le Figaro :
"Prodigieuse révélation, dont l'œuvre est d'une originalité, d'une singularité, devrais-je dire, profonde et d'une étonnante invention. Alain FIDON est apparu comme un météore, un jour, dans le ciel de la photographie. Il ne venait de nulle part. Il n'avait pas fait ses classes dans un quelconque photo club. Il ne connaissait ni l'œuvre de KERTESZ, ni celle de WESTON, ni celle de STRAND. Autodidacte parfait, amateur au vrai sens du terme, il exposa en 1975 au relais de Monmartre le bistrot des Photographes, chez Léon HERSCHTRITT. Le nouveau PHOTOCINEMA et nous-mêmes annonçâmes la naissance de ce nouveau talent. Nous fûmes les seuls ; comme il était venu, Alain FIDON retourna au néant, avec ses photographies belles à couper le souffle, purs diamants noirs…"

• Portfolio dans IL PROGRESSO FOTOGRAFICO, à propos duquel il précisera :
"Je ne veux exprimer aucune idée avec mes photos. Impulsif et sensuel à ma façon, je jouis en appuyant sur le déclencheur de mon appareil, comme le chasseur solitaire que je suis aussi, jouis esthétiquement du moment précis où l'oiseau libre et sauvage qu'il vient de tirer, s'abat sur le sol (de la baie St Michel), avec ce bruit mat et mou, particulier. Je ne réfléchis pas, je photographie comme on jette son coup de fusil. Alors il y a cette émotion sensuelle, cette seconde qui reste pour toujours…"

• Participe à une exposition collective au Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris :
"TENDANCES ACTUELLES DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE EN FRANCE"
avec entre autres : Bernard PLOSSU, John BATHO, Keiichi TAHARA. Mais la rupture est déjà là.
Il range définitivement ses appareils. Il a l'impression de tourner en rond avec le sentiment que sa démarche atypique ne convient pas aux conventions établies du "milieu artistique", sur lequel il porte un jugement dénué de complaisance (il refuse notamment de publier un portfolio dans ZOOM)

2006-2011 - LA TRANSFIGURATION ESTHÉTIQUE
2004-2006
Le processus créatif de FIDON reprend d'abord avec "CORRESPONDANCES ALÉATOIRES"
Assemblage de collages réalisés à partir de ses anciens "reliquats de tirages".
2006-2008
Puis viennent "EAUX", "OBJETS", "ANIMAUX EN SITUATION", "BÉTON", "PORTRAITS DE DOS", et surtout "POISSONS".
Avec "POISSONS", il renoue, inconsciemment sans doute, avec la veine des "PETITES MORTS" de 1975, qu'il magnifie cette fois.
Recherche esthétique du BEAU dont l'aboutissement est la série des "YEUX DE POISSONS"
"MATIÈRES DE…" devient alors le titre générique de son travail, avec cette précision d'importance qu'il n'y a dans les images numériques de FIDON aucune retouche, ni manipulation de pixels ; parfois, seulement, un simple recadrage sur l'appareil.
2008-2010
"MATIÈRES D'AVIONS" devient l'unique objet de son travail, et se poursuit toujours. Avec les avions, avec lesquels il semble entretenir une relation au "second degré", FIDON a trouvé le vecteur esthétique idéal. Le critique de SUD-OUEST l'a bien compris, qui concluait en juillet 2009 son article intitulé "POISSONS VOLANTS" : "Alain FIDON en a fait une série, une nouvelle fois, monomaniaque et atypique, où les formes géométriques des carlingues transfigurent l'esthétique aéronautique".
En son temps déjà, CLEMENCEAU, qui était l'ami de MONET, parlait du "prodige de la rétine du peintre qui s'accorde instantanément de point de vue en point de vue".
