Dit is een beeld met een zwaar beladen onderwerp en heeft daardoor een dramatische uitstraling... erg ontroerend om tezien.
De naam gritu di libertad betekent in het Nederlands ( kreet van de vrijheid ).

My name is Edsel Selberie and I was born 1956 in Willemstad Curacao N.A.
As a child, I had a broad interest in art and culture, so I took lessons in drawing and sculpting... when I was 12, I chose judo and enjoyed doing it for 5 years. .but suddenly at the age of 17 I thought that "a man should radiate strength" which is why I started bodybuilding.
To my great surprise, I also had quite a few talents in-house, which allowed me to win several titles there at the time.
When I was twenty I came to the Netherlands and started studying construction and in the meantime I had also been very active and successful here in the Netherlands with bodybuilding sports... after studying construction I worked for many years as a cadcam construction engineer but continued Due to circumstances, I retrained as a nask and basic technology teacher in secondary education, where I have enjoyed working to this day... I last participated in the European Bodybuilding Championships in Greece, Athens, in 1987. After that I had to find something to occupy my free time again and that became music... as a singer and bassist I toured in many top Caribbean formations and Latin/jazz bands throughout the Netherlands and Europe... but my creative and imaginative spirit continued to haunt me, so that in 1999 I finally had to respond to the feelings that were within me at the time... there was a visual artist hidden within me who had to be expressed if necessary... and so I started as an autodidact painting with oil paint and sculpting with soapstone... but in order to master the necessary techniques, I followed various courses and workshops at various art academies.
In the meantime, I have even developed my own style that is very popular with a large audience... and I exhibit my works of art two or three times a year where I often enjoy the many positive reactions to my works... people find that my works have a powerful appearance and that they appeal to people, in short, inspiring... and people also find my use of color special, but... people are especially impressed by the fact that I place various types of materials on canvas using a special gel, which my paintings get an extra dimension.
From 2000 onwards I started exhibiting my works and I have participated in many group exhibitions and art fairs together with many renowned and talented fellow artists and in May 2010 I held my first retrospective exhibition in the Amsterdam public library... about 70 of my works of art were exhibited there for two months and it was a great success!...I would spare you the trouble with very long lists of past exhibitions because as they say..." past successes do not guarantee future results " ...
