“Benedict Canyon”, Beverly Hills: 30 x 40 x 1.5: His background colors are what he feels. For a time he lived at the top of Benedict Canyon where his home overlooked the estate of Ann Margret. Benedict Canyon is a long and windy road leading from Sunset Boulevard to Mulholland Drive at the peak. At the bottom of Benedict Canyon and Sunset Boulevard is the famous Beverly Hills Hotel, the scene where the cover for the Eagles “Hotel California” album was shot at dusk, where stars who lived on Benedict Canyon Drive over the years would meet. Stars with Benedict Canyon Drive addresses over the years include Lauren Bacall, Jacqueline Bisset, Humphrey Bogart, Charlie Chaplin, Janice Dickinson, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Murphy, Kim Kardasian, Elizabeth Montgomery, Gene Simmons, Mark Wahlberg, Lara Flyn Boyle, Belinda Carlyle, Barbara Eden, and Jennifer Grey no to mention Heidi Fleiss and Roman Polanski. The Beverly Hills Hotel is still today where Hollywood power lunches and movie and studio deals are discussed and closed. The iconic hotel is painted in a a soft pink which he replicates here and is highlighted in soft greens of the surrounding landscape of the place. As always, the ever present sunshine, golden sun, the minimalist palms, along with his blue sky signifying hope for a new day are all in this piece. This location, where the earliest visionaries of what became the City of Beverly Hills, was originally called Rancho de las Aguas, the “Ranch of the Waters” as a number of underground streams and the filtering of rainwater from the hills trickle down the hillsides and meet at roughly where the Benerly Hills Hotel sits today. The colors he uses reflects his visions of place and time, and the use of the soft pinks are clearly his statement to the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Dutch Montana is a contemporary, award-winning American painter known for his distinctive style and innovative techniques. He is a professional artist celebrated for his exquisite abstractions and abstract impressionist depictions of beach, ocean, and desert landscapes. Dutch Montana's artistic process is characterized by the skillful use of rich mediums, palette knives, and a variety of other tools, which contribute to the unique texture and depth of his creations. His brush strokes are powerful, bold, and imbued with a sense of authority, capturing the essence of his subjects in a remarkable way.

Each of Dutch Montana's artworks is meticulously crafted in layers, a testament to the time and dedication he invests in his craft. What sets him apart is his 100% self-taught and organic approach to painting. While he employs traditional tools such as palette knives and brushes, he isn't afraid to experiment with unconventional methods and implements, resulting in surprising and captivating elements in some of his abstract pieces.

The driving forces behind Dutch Montana's creative inspiration are his deep appreciation for music, the desert, and the scenic beauty of California. He finds his muse in the vast ocean, picturesque beaches, rugged canyons, majestic mountains, open prairies, and the rustic charm of cattle country. The Central Coast and the Southern beaches offer him a rich tapestry of colors and landscapes that ignite his artistic vision. The mesmerizing hues of sunset skies, whether observed from his studio in Corona Del Mar or over the desert mountains, have a profound influence on his work. His extensive travels up and down the western United States provide a wealth of experiences and scenes to draw from.

In 2022, Dutch Montana acquired an iconic estate in Las Vegas, steeped in rich history, restoring it and establishing a personal gallery along with a new studio. His artwork adorns the walls throughout the 15,000 square foot historic mansion. In his studio, Dutch Montana immerses himself in his work, painting to the rhythm of music.
