Dorine Knecht, born in 1968, lives and works in Fontainebleau, France. A versatile visual artist, she explores various mediums such as paper engraving, pastel and sculpture using materials such as cement, plaster, resin, soap and wood. Influenced by artists such as Giorgio Morandi, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, Paul Klee and Esteve, Dorine Knecht developed a unique symbolic and plastic vocabulary upon her admission to the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where she studied under the tutelage of Vladimir Velickovic and Annette Messager.

His artistic career began with his first solo exhibition at the Galerie des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1993, followed by numerous others in France and abroad, notably in London and New York. Since the 1990s, his work has explored the theme of architecture as a metaphor for the human body, exploring the intimate and hidden spaces behind physical and social appearances.

Dorine Knecht expresses a deep melancholy through her works, illustrating the fragmentation of human identity and the limits of individual perception. His sculptures, often made with construction materials, and his paintings, sometimes covered in paraffin, reflect this metaphorical exploration of the skin as an interface between the inside and the outside.

Member of the Taylor Foundation and the ADAGP (Society of Authors in the Graphic and Plastic Arts), Dorine Knecht continues to explore and push the boundaries of artistic expression through her original and evocative creations.
