Dominique Obry, born in 1948, is a French artist who lives and works in France. Trained by Professor Malher in Arcachon from 1957 to 1966, Dominique Obry began his artistic journey by devoting himself to drawing and painting from a young age. However, at the age of 20, he put aside his pencils and brushes to work in the agricultural sector, a break that lasted several decades.
It was only in 2009, with the arrival of retirement, that Dominique reconnected with his passion for art, rediscovering the pleasure of drawing, particularly portraiture. Progressing from black and white to color, he ventured into the use of pastel, mixed media, acrylic, and watercolor, exploring various media such as paper, cardboard, and MDF boards.
Deeply influenced by the work of Klint, his figurative style is distinguished by a subtle mastery of nuances and textures. Today, despite a battle with cancer, Dominique considers drawing as his best therapy, a way to continue to express his vision of the world while cultivating the joy of creating. His artistic approach, rooted in simplicity and sincerity, reflects his life path marked by pauses and rebirths, where art remains an unwavering constant.
